Seattle Storm Announces 2012 Schedule
January 19, 2012
SEATTLE - The Seattle Storm will open the 2012 WNBA schedule against the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday, May 18 at 7 p.m. The 2012 schedule, announced by the WNBA Wednesday, features five matchups each against the rival Sparks and Phoenix Mercury. It also features five nationally televised games with broadcasts on ESPN2.
The WNBA will take a full month break so that players can participate in the London Olympics. The Storm's final pre-Olympic home game will be Wednesday, July 11 versus the Atlanta Dream, which is also the annual Kids Day game with a 12 noon tipoff.
Action will resume after the Olympics with a seven-game homestand beginning Thursday, Aug. 16 against the Mercury, one of three visits to KeyArena by Phoenix this season. Center
Lauren Jackson will return to the Storm after playing for the Australian National Team in London. Following the Olympics, the Storm will play 10 of the last 15 games at home.
Weekends will be busy at KeyArena in 2012 with the Storm playing 10 home games on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday.
"2012 promises to be a very exciting year," said Storm President and CEO Karen Bryant. "Between the Olympics, Lauren's return after the Games and more rivalry matchups than ever, we think this year is going to be absolutely action-packed."
The Storm’s 2012 schedule will be extra special for dads. The Storm will host its annual Dads and Daughters game on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 17 with a 6 p.m. tipoff against the defending WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx. The remaining theme-night schedule for the 2012 Storm season will be announced in the coming weeks. The local broadcast schedule will also be released prior to the season.
2012 Storm season tickets starting at just $10 per seat, per game and deposits for group tickets and ticket packages are available online at StormBasketball.com or by calling 206-217-WNBA.
